Quartz in the Mountains

Posted by on

This week we're featuring our Quartz in the Mountain design, benefitting MountainTrue. It's a simple line art design, but there is a heap of significance behind it. I'd like to say it came to me as I tripped over a quartz chunk on a trail, or that I can tell the future based on the way it hits the light. Alas, the story is not that glamourous.

Today I'd like to take a moment to get real.

A couple of months ago, I was sitting on a plush turquoise couch, spilling the contents of my soul out to my therapist (reeeeal) and mentioned that, regardless of my naturally occurring cynicism, I noticed that there was something different about Asheville and the community that inhabits this little slice of Blue Ridge. I've never felt such a positive force in all my life.

"Well," she responded, "perhaps it's all the quartz in the mountain."

Now y'all. I just admitted to being a cynic. I've been participating in a lot of hippie nonsense lately, but this was just a little too much.

From John and Micki's Metaphysical Site:

"Quartz crystals are truly a gift from the earth. They have the ability to amplify or strengthen all the energies of the Inner Being, which is everything you are as a person. They strengthen all the things in you that are positive, and they can help you put away things that cause you fear or anger. They can strengthen your ability to be a loving person, and can enhance your abilities to enjoy life and accomplish the things you want in life. They can amplify intention, reduce stress, help with centering (balancing or calming), strengthen inner healing abilities, and surround you with protection by amplifying white light. And they can make it easier to take steps toward personal growth."

If you're anything like me, you just rolled your eyes so hard, they got stuck. BUT! These are all things I've been working on for years, decades, a lifetime. Surely just being in the presence of this abundance of quartz isn't the catalyst?

Obviously, therapy has helped hugely in establishing solid daily practices of love, mindfulness, and managing stress and anxiety. Do I still struggle with this? Absolutely. Do I still have panic attacks? You betcha. Is living in Asheville really all that different from being anywhere else? I can't answer that for anyone else, but I've lived all over NC, parts of Florida, and originally hail from the Jersey Shore (I don't fist bump). I've even lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains before, when attending Appalachian State.

Asheville is different.

As someone who grew up surrounded by concrete and traffic, it's absolutely glorious living in such a scenic city. The people are truly compassionate and real. The weather is blissful, even in the sticky heat of summer. But even still, there's plenty of places that fit that description.

There's wisdom in these mountains.

That's why it's so important that we do everything we can to protect and preserve this positively life changing environment. MountainTrue has been doing a phenomenal job protecting our waters, lands, and trees. Every Quartz in the Mountain design donates 10% of sales directly to MountainTrue.
