Welcome to the fourth entry of our series: Compassionate Sustainability! Over the next several weeks, we'll be exploring the seven chakras, the lessons we can learn from nature, and how to be more compassionate participants on this planet. If you missed our previous posts about the Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, and Solar Chakra, I encourage you to start your journey there :)
Before we begin, let's take a moment to review what we've accomplished so far. We've learned ways to ground ourselves, to be joyful in our lives, and are feeling more confident and secure. To keep that good energy flowing, the next step up the ladder is the Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra is located just above your heart (well think of that!) and a little to the right, so it's centered. It's concerned with love, inner peace, and general warm-fuzzies.
When our Heart Chakra is blocked, it can feel impossible to share genuine compassion, or open yourself to opportunities, and can even affect your immune system. However, when it's flowing freely, the Heart Chakra can be responsible for some intense love for your fellow humans and the world around you!
So what's the easiest way to show love to your Heart Chakra?
- For a quick visualization, imagine that there is a green glow right above your heart. Focus on the color and your breath.
- Yoga poses that help include Sphynx, Camel, really anything that allows your chest to be fully open
- LOVE LOVE LOVE! Shower everyone and everything in your life with lots of love! It's one of the precious few things in this life that the more you give, the more you receive!
Show love and understanding to those whose viewpoints may differ from your own. No one is swayed by rhetoric that's condescending or spiteful. Be patient, open your heart, and people will notice. Love each other, love our forests, our waters, and our lands.
What can you do this week to show more love? Share in the comments!
This week I am pouring all the love I have into my daily life, because that's what I was put on this earth to do! Oh! And come show us some love at The Big Crafty this Sunday, December 4th, we'd sure love to see you!
